way̓ p snqsilxʷ,
I will let you all know why I decided to work in language revitalization and learn n̓syilxcn̓. First off, I love our language. I have been actively learning for the last 8 years. I have studied and learned n̓syilxcn̓ through the Salish School of Spokane curriculum. Over time I have found that the language has been healing to the parts of me that seemed lost in the modern world. I wanted a deeper connection with my family, the land, and my ancestors. Through learning our language, I was able to pick up bits and pieces of our culture that has helped me know just how intertwined and connected we all are. It has helped me find a space for myself in the world we all live in and find a sense of pride to be just who I am, kn̓ sqilxʷ.
